General Description

Skin: Tanned
Hair: Chin-length, curly. The base color is blond, and he has some natural green strands.
Eyes: Almond shaped. Entirely purple, he has no iris whatsoever.

Markings/Tattoos: He has a tattoo of a fox on his right shoulder.
Others: Well built body. Muscled, yet slender.

As a human he looks mostly like a regular human- with normal legs and ears-; only his eyes remain unchanged and highly sensitive to the light.

As a merman His gills are situated by counts of 3 at each side of his body, between the rib cage and his hips. They are slightly V shaped and only noticeable when in use, as they are covered by the operculum (regular skin acting as gill cover). He has webbed hands, the webbing being purple, as his tail is, and translucent. His fins (dorsal and arms) are of the spiny type, also of a purple color and translucent. His caudal fin holds the same description, except it's not spiny. He has regular, non-patterned cycloid scales.

His Lateral Line actually goes down his spine, making only a slightly darker line of skin and scales at the sides of the dorsal fins.
He holds no visible human reproductive organs, however he does have a penis sheath, his gonads being hidden inside this sheath. His vent is located at the very end of the tail. His ears had not evolved fully into fins, however, while still keeping their general human shape and feeling, they have developed the same spiky fin-rays his fin have. The reason why his type's eyes are a single color is because of the depth of the sea he lived in.

Clothing and Accessories: Obviously, he wears clothing only when in human form. He tends to go for suits when working, and favors very dark shades of purple over other tones. When he's at home he will often wear nothing but some slacks, and when going out he will often wear jeans and an open shirt, or a large t-shirt.

Personality

Likes: Water, the ocean, the aquarium, the beach, porn movies, board games, sleeping, learning, fine wine, cars.
Dislikes: Not much.

Abilities: He can transform from merfolk to human and back again at will. He's fairly strong.
Weaknesses: His eyes are photosensitive, thus when exposed to sunlight for far too long without protection he will suffer from bad headaches, and eventually go blind.

General: Kind and laid back. He's learned not to worry too much when life gives him lemons, and has often opted for making a lemonade with it instead. He likes to live one day at a time, and the most he will plan is for one or two days ahead, and rarely more than that. He does miss the sea terribly, though.

Background History

Born in the depths of the ocean, Aerealis led a quiet, normal life for his kind. He learned about hunting and defending his people and living areas since child, and became one of the strongest in the community by his teens. He was, however, accused falsely of high treason (murdering their leader) and banished from the ocean. No one believed his word when he said he was not to blame, and so he complied with the banishment and got away from his kin.

He lived by himself for a few years, however their kin wanted him out of the ocean itself, and after running away for a while Aerealis decided to simply comply and try his luck on land.

Living on land proved to be really hard at first. For five years he was forced to work in a very questionable industry. He finally made it under the wing of the co-owner and vice-president of an insurance company, and in exchange for some "favors" he was given a job, roof and food. As time went by Aerealis quickly moved up in positions in the company, making more money and moving out when he could finally afford a place of his own.

The man that took him in eventually died though, and Aerealis was appointed the vice-president position as he was the most qualified man. Finally, Aerealis moved again to what is now his current home (a large chalet at Ocean View Ave., USA), and has been performing as vice-president at a Company of Insurances for several years now. He has also taken to volunteering at the Aquarium on weekends.

Others

This type of merfolk inhabits the deepest zones of the ocean (Aphotic Zone, Bathypelagic (rare), Abyssopelagic to Hadopelagic/Haydal), and only come to the surface when they are entirely certain of it being night time, or if they absolutely need it. Their eyes are photosensitive, and if exposed to sunlight for too long without any protection to the eyes they will go blind.

They have a very closed community, and when someone commits what they consider a crime, their only solution is to kill or banish them. Most banished merfolk of this kind end up on land, as they are attacked by other types of merpeople as well as their own kind.
